"It's very important for women to get mammograms because early detection is the best protection."
- Wendy Shurelds, MSOP Founder
Wendy Shurelds' foundational work with Many Shades of Pink has been featured extensively throughout San Diego County.
When asked by Susan G. Komen to join the team and develop life-saving outreach to Black and Brown women she jumped at the chance to fight breast cancer.
Since being named the 2017 Padres Bat Girl, for breast health advocacy Wendy founded Many Shades of Pink in 2018; and co-found a monthly community health event which brings mobile mammography to community members with unmet needs. Broadening her impact, mymsop.org partners with other health providers and advocates offering a variety of other free health and life services
Many Shades of Pink serves, supports and raises funds for the unique breast health needs of women in the safety and comfort of their own communities.
Helping to save lives, mymsop.org has provided mobile mammography for early detection and preventive health resources to over 1000 participants.
During the pandemic, Many Shades of Pink wants the public to know we are still helping survivors and those seeking free breast health resources, such as mammograms, vital information and referral guidance as local regulations permit.
With our virtual boots on the ground in the community MSOP support group has grown and our work to Break Every Chain of health disparities continues through a research study partnership with UCSD that will help women of color gain greater control over their healthcare options.
